Inaba Märchen Beef

Inaba Märchen Beef is a local brand of premium wagyu beef raised at Inabayama Ranch, a cattle ranch located high up on Mt. Inaba. This richly marbled beef comes from cattle who live near the top of Mt. Inaba, enjoying a quiet life in a pasture some 300 m above sea level, with a spectacular view of the town below.

This brand got its start in the early 1990s, and has gradually become more readily available throughout Oyabe, with high-end meat shops and large-scale supermarkets carrying it. Perhaps the easiest way for visitors to enjoy this excellent beef, however, is at local restaurants: savor luxurious Japanese-style wagyu beef meal sets, or have a more casual meal with a Hamburg steak freshly made with Inaba Märchen Beef at the café near the ranch, at the top of Mt. Inaba.
