Mt. Inaba

Panoramic Views, Inabayama Ranch, and Scenic Delights Above Oyabe

Mt. Inaba sits to the northwest of Oyabe, and is visible from virtually every part of town. While the mountaintop is not served by public transit, the views are enough to make it well worth the ride up by car (or, for the particularly ambitious, by bicycle). The top offers truly breathtaking panoramic views of Oyabe, with its layout characteristic of much of rural Toyama: landscapes filled with the green of rice fields and other farm fields, criss-crossed by roads and dotted here and there with houses and stores. Visitors can snap a commemorative photo of themselves standing in front of this scenery along with statues of Merugyu and Merumomo, the town’s mascot characters.

Also located high up on Mt. Inaba is Inabayama Ranch, which has hillside pastures where the cattle can graze far above the Oyabe landscape. On weekends from spring through autumn, the ranch has even more to offer visitors, such as their petting zoo, which offers up-close encounters with animals like goats and rabbits. Afterward, why not get lunch at the mountaintop café? Choose from popular favorites like Japanese curry, pork cutlet sandwiches, or even Hamburg steak made with premium Inaba Märchen Beef from Inabayama Ranch.
